A Step-by-Step Guide to Obtaining a Digital Number Plate and Registration Smart Card for Your New Bike. Simplifying the Process of Motorcycle Registration and Ensuring a Hassle-Free Experience.

After purchasing a motorcycle, one of the crucial steps to complete is registering it and obtaining a digital number plate and registration smart card. This process might seem overwhelming, but it’s actually quite straightforward. In this article, we will walk you through the entire process based on my personal experience, so you can have a smooth and hassle-free registration experience.

Starting the Registration Process

1.1. Registering Your Bike and Making the Payment

After purchasing my bike on March 16, 2022, I promptly paid the registration fee at the showroom. Within a short time, I received my bike’s registration number.

1.2. Receiving the BRTA Notification

Soon after, I received a text message from BRTA on my mobile number, instructing me to provide biometrics for the Digital Registration Certificate (Registration Smart Card). Now follow the 2.1

Scheduling Appointments for Biometrics and Digital Number Plate

2.1. Scheduling the Biometric Appointment

To schedule the biometric appointment, I followed the instructions in the BRTA message and sent an SMS in the format “NP B DATE” to 26969. The date was chosen based on my convenience, and the appointment was confirmed through a reply message.

2.2. Scheduling the Digital Number Plate Appointment

After providing my biometrics, I received another message on my mobile notifying me that my digital number plate was ready. I scheduled an appointment for the digital number plate by sending an SMS in the format “NP A DATE” to 26969, choosing a date that suited my schedule. My appointment was then confirmed through a reply message.

Completing the Biometrics and Digital Number Plate Processes

3.1. Providing Biometrics

On the scheduled date, I brought photocopies of my bike registration documents and National ID to the Mirpur BRT. I headed to the biometric room, where I was given a serial number and directed to the next room. After a short wait, I provided my biometrics. Note that it’s essential to carry the original copies of all your documents.

3.2. Obtaining the Digital Number Plate

On the date of my digital number plate appointment, I went to Mirpur BRT with my bike documents, National ID card (or driving license), and a photocopy of the money receipt, along with their original copies. After verifying my bike and documents, I was given a serial number and soon received my digital number plate.
